About
I love using play therapy to help kids and their families. Play is the free expression of what is in a child's heart. Young children who struggle academically and socially may be lagging in the skills they need to succeed. Others who have experienced loss or trauma may find it difficult to verbally engage with a caring adult to work through their pain. It is within the safety of a therapeutic child-centered playroom that these children use their natural language of play to heal, build coping skills, and learn to make sense of their world. It is my honor to facilitate this process at Trettin Play Therapy Services.
I have many years of experience engaging with children in a child-centered manner. I complement the child's work in the playroom with support and direction to parents, caregivers and other family members.
In addition to play therapy, other counseling options include family systems work and individual therapy for adolescents and adults. These services are influenced by person-centered and cognitive-behavioral approaches.
