About
My hope is to create a relationship between the therapist and the individual that fosters positive and lasting change. To that end, I work patiently to ensure a sense of trust and safety. In addition, I feel I work well with individuals who go to therapy to be challenged, to be "unstuck." In these cases, I can be supportive while also being firm and direct. My approach is sensitive to the individual's life circumstance, their personality, and their comfort level with the therapeutic process.
My experience includes hundreds of cases concerning trauma, mood and personality disorders, life-transitions, and family conflict. The situations I most frequently encounter involve reduction in chronic depressive and anxious symptomology, as well as couples counseling. More specialized work involves treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
My theoretical background has been influenced by techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Bowen Family Systems Theory, and the French Psychoanalytic tradition. I primarily work in East Memphis, but occasionally see clients in Bartlett.
