Greetings, my name is Detra Rouser. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Mississippi and have 18+ years of experience working with individuals ranging from at-risk youth in outpatient settings to the elderly in geriatric behavioral hospital placements. My focus of practice is helping individuals increase their emotional intelligence, develop practical coping skills, and improve their quality of life overall.
Taking into consideration the extensive history I have working with at-risk youth in both urban and rural communities, I work well with adolescents, their families, and young adults navigating life as they transition into full adulthood.
Supportive communication with ample amounts of active reflective listening and validation is my standard style of communicating in therapy, along with informative as needed when assisting with coping skill development and exercises of critical thinking.
