About
As a therapist, I believe my primary responsibility is to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere within which clients can freely explore areas of their lives and selves which have not been working well. I believe in identifying client strengths and in supporting and building on those strengths. At at the same time, I work to help clients develop realistic and healthy alternatives to old habits which are interfering with their abilities to become the individuals they are meant to be and to achieve the goals they have set for their lives.
I am an Adlerian counselor, I believe that humans are social creatures who grow through relationships with other people; a fundamental aspect of a healthy person is a healthy relationship. I use this developmental theory to help guide clients through both normal developmental life stages and through crises which arise throughout life.
I worked for 5 years in an inpatient treatment center and have extensive experience working with all forms of mental health disorders and addictions. I have since left the inpatient setting and am now seeing clients in my private practice.
