I believe that all behavior is purposeful, and that clients are the best experts of their lives. Many people are practicing behaviors which they have learned in order to adapt to their circumstances, which can be difficult to change when those behaviors have provided a sense of safety for a number of years. I am passionate about helping clients identify their role in their mental health journey by teaching and developing coping skills which assist them in living a life more in line with their goals and values. I mainly consider myself a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, however I pull from several theories and approaches to best meet your individual needs.
My approach to counseling is unique to each person, to best serve their needs in counseling - it is never a one size fits all approach. While it is essential to use evidence-based practices, I also emphasize the counseling relationship and experience. My goal is to help my clients feel seen and valued, and work with them to make clear steps towards goals.
