About
I work with adults and I specialize in all forms of anxiety: Panic Disorder, GAD, PTSD, Phobias, OCD, Agoraphobia. I also focus on insomnia/sleep disturbances, adjustment disorder and depression. I work with couples as well and have completed the Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 3 training. Having been a medical social worker for 15 years, I have a passion for working with healthcare professionals. The occupational stressors of healthcare are unique and I have the experience of having practiced social work in a hospital for many years. I am also passionate about working with people within their faith traditions.
The primary approach I use is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is such a powerful treatment for anxiety because it seeks to change a person's relationship to their thoughts. Much of our suffering comes from our reactions to our own internal monologues, so the goal in therapy is to learn how to respond skillfully to things we find distressing.
If you are tired of the exhausting task of trying to "control" your thoughts and emotions, I invite you to come journey with me through the process of relating differently to your mind. Through ACT we will seek to become more emotionally flexible, less fused with our thoughts, and more committed to living lives of great value and meaning.
