About
I specialize in working with clients who have a history of trauma including physical, sexual, verbal, and/or emotional abuse. I also work with clients suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder and dissociative disorders. Left untreated, these conditions can make life unbearable not only for the client, but also for those who love them. Therefore, whenever feasible, I involve partners and family members in treatment to ensure their understanding of their loved one's condition and to teach skills to support management and healing. I also offer weekend workshops addressing specific topics like BPD and emotion regulation skills.
I utilize a combination of therapeutic approaches including trauma focused CBT to connect the past to the present so that what was once quite confusing now makes sense. We work toward understanding and altering longstanding beliefs and patterns of behavior to achieve lasting change. I also teach DBT skills to manage overwhelming emotions.
Nearly everyone has experienced some type of trauma at some point in their lives. Trauma can lead to a myriad of symptoms including anxiety, depression, dissociation, addictions, self-harm, and other destructive behaviors as well as personality disorders. When the symptoms have become overwhelming and can no longer be ignored, it's time to seek help.
