Let me guess, you've been in therapy for years and nothing has helped much? You are not alone. Mental health treatment has failed clients who suffer from complex developmental trauma. This is the trauma that happened as a child and there was no escaping the day to day nightmare of not being kept safe. These clients do not benefit from traditional cognitive-behavioral treatment approaches and talk therapy. They likely have high levels of dissociation and a chronic sense of disconnection from themself and others. They have had to turn on themselves in order to survive the unimaginable. It is time to return home to yourself. Psychedelic therapy is here and it’s legal. I am currently using cannabis and ketamine in my psychotherapy practice. These medicines have proven to be powerful allies in the treatment of complex PTSD and other mental health conditions. Traditional talk therapy simply CANNOT touch the powerful mechanisms of dissociation that are often present when there has been developmental trauma. Trauma is stored in the body, not our minds. We cannot talk our way out of a nervous system response to trauma. I believe that an altered state of consciousness + the container of safety and trust held within the the therapeutic relationship is how we can truly heal from the darkest places of the past.
