About
Sometimes life's challenges or transitions can be overwhelming for a person or family to solve on their own. Counselling provides support as you adjust to transitions such as those involving grief and loss or separation/divorce. I utilize diverse theoretical approaches in my counselling practice, drawing upon my training and experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples and Family Therapy, trauma-informed and attachment issues, play therapy, and mindfulness techniques.
I have a special interest in counselling children and youth, having worked four years as a school counsellor and more than 30 years as a classroom and resource teacher. I have training and experience in working with children and youth who are experiencing anxiety, anger, ADHD, depression, conflicts, family changes, trauma and behavioural challenges.
I have completed a Master of Education degree in Special Education and have experience in working with children and youth with special needs. I also have training and experience in conflict mediation. In 2016, I opened a practice to support people of all ages with their personal and career counselling goals.
