About
Let's be honest; it's HARD to find a culturally sensitive therapist who understands what it's like to navigate life as a person of color, especially in the state of Colorado. How do you explain your deep love and respect for certain aspects of your culture while at the same time, acknowledge your disdain for the harmful parts of it? How do you sort through the trauma of not having your emotional needs met as a child while still feeling grateful for your parents' best attempts at loving you? How do you process the desire to assimilate into the dominant culture while not wanting to fully abandon important elements of your identity?
As a first-generation American born to ethnically Chinese immigrants from Southeast Asia, I understand the joys and frustrations that can come from navigating life between multiple cultures. It is from this lived experience that my passion for supporting others who find themselves in the in-between spaces of their various backgrounds and identities was born.
I am especially passionate about supporting other adult children of immigrants, multicultural individuals, transracial adoptees, and BIPOC folks of all cultural backgrounds. I am also Theraplay-trained and offer play therapy to children, with a specific focus on adoptees and little ones who need extra support navigating their big emotions.
