About
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in SC. I recently retired after 14 years of practice (therapy and clinical supervision) as a contractor with the US Air Force and VA. Prior to this, I served with a large medical system in Fargo, ND. My approach to therapy is that the client is the expert on themselves, but we all get stuck sometimes. I use CBT techniques to help clients learn about why they do the things they do, and help them change in ways that reach their goals.
For the most part, I use cognitive and behavioral strategies to help clients deal with distressing and dysfunctional patterns of thought, feeling, behavior, and relationships.
I try to balance my approach between structure and flexibility, respecting individual style and preferences while still making good use of session time. Most clients find my sessions relaxing and at times humorous, but that does not mean there are not intense times, such as when discussing trauma, painful, or embarrassing events, thoughts, and feelings.
