About
I believe the world often tells us who we should be. If we donât fall into accordance with what we should be we are generally ostracized. This is where mental distress comes into play; when we feel shame for not living up to societal expacations. This is especially apparent for minorities where stereotypes and microaggression have a such a large hand in shaping our beliefs and behaviors. Once we are comfortable with who we are, only then are we equipped to deal with the stressors from the outside world. As a therapist, I utilize a number of techniques to help client take of this "mask" through personal awareness and venerability.
I have work in a large variety of clinical settings ranging from the Denver county jail to the Children hospital of Colorado. This has given me experience in many domains of mental health treatment and allowed me to diversity my knowledge. I have formal certifications in gestalt therapy and career counseling on top of this wide range of clinical practice.
I believe that a good therapist not only provides empathy and an ear to be heard, but also the ability to push their clients so they can develop in-depth awareness on their emotions and behaviors. My mantra: "Your comfort zone is a great place to visit, but impossible to grow anything there".
