Her experience ranges from working with substance abuse, domestic violence, runaway/homeless youth & supervised residential for youth & those who have severe mental illness & are trying to re-integrate into the community. She describes those times as having been challenging & rewarding, as each person sheâs worked with has taught her something valuable as a therapist. View 14 Photos
When working with guests, Gwen primarily uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Motivational Interviewing, though also enjoys using role playing so guests can practice setting boundaries, becoming more assertive & advocating for themselves. In her mind, the most important thing for a therapist to do is to be themselves while building a relationship.
Gwen believes that is important for guests to know - that being in therapy doesn't make a person âbadâ or âweird.â Everyone has difficulties in life & therapy can be a safe place to explore & overcome those challenges.
