About

Gwen Clancy graduated with a B.S. in Sociology from Illinois State University & a masters from St. Xavier University. She’s worked in agency settings since graduating college & really enjoys helping folks make forward progress in their lives. Her experience ranges from working with substance abuse, domestic violence, runaway/homeless youth & supervised residential for youth & those who have severe mental illness & are trying to re-integrate into the community. She describes those times as having been challenging & rewarding, as each person she’s worked with has taught her something valuable as a therapist. View 14 Photos When working with guests, Gwen primarily uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Motivational Interviewing, though also enjoys using role playing so guests can practice setting boundaries, becoming more assertive & advocating for themselves. In her mind, the most important thing for a therapist to do is to be themselves while building a relationship. Gwen believes that is important for guests to know - that being in therapy doesn't make a person “bad” or “weird.” Everyone has difficulties in life & therapy can be a safe place to explore & overcome those challenges.
